Tea mascots are clay or porcelain animals, historic figures, objects kept as decorations or good luck charms and "fed" tea by tea lovers. As they are fed tea, they acquire the scent of tea over time. Some tea lovers will feed a tea pet only a specific type of tea. It is not uncommon for a tea lover to have many different types of tea pets.
